THE FLOODING

image_pdf

The days after the great flood of 2016 in St. Vincent and the Grenadines. From what I have seen with E T Joshua airport and the water damage, it is time to make change and up to improvement. It is my understanding that the Argyle International Airport was untouched. Therefore, I am calling on the government to make haste and open the long awaited AIA. However, the persistent slippage of the access road in the area may be the beginning of more problems to come. I am worried about the fuel farm if there is not enough protection for the lands in that area.

This is not the first time that E T Joshua airport was flooded and there was nothing done to prevent further flooding. If we are serious about tourism or airlift of passengers to our homeland then it is time to look towards prevention until the relocation. I know why nothing was done to prevent the flooding in the area.

This brings me to the under utilized J F Mitchell Airport in Bequia. My question is what are the plans for the renovation and marketing of the facility. Bequia had its full share of land slippage and many homes are at risk of collapsing. Yet, nothing has been said and the residents are forced to protect their properties by whatever cost to their pockets.

My heart goes out to those affected and I pray that all needed help will find its way to you.
