Today, against the backdrop of the offseason, when many workplaces are closed, the resilience of island people was on display. People from all parts of the island came by, dropped off supplies and expressed thanks for being able to use Rise up Bequia Inc. as the conduit through which they could express love to fellow islanders facing dire situations in Dominica.
Hurricanes are a fact of life once you live in these islands and since the season is not over many ‘knock wood’ and openly wonder when it would be our turn. It is often said that the best way to receive love is to give love and today it was heartening to see a grassroots effort supported by young volunteers, showing that Bequia, the land we love, is as loving and caring as she has ever been!
The people of Bequia has once again demonstrated to the world that they can rise to any challenge and overcome any adversity. They have come to the assistance of our sister Island of Dominica with pride in their hearts leaving politics for its season. Your contributions speak volume when people unite for a just cause and you are a prime example for any country bigger than 6000 population or larger than 4.5 square miles
