Nevisian Neurosurgeon Conducts Life-Saving Surgery on Antiguan Youth

A 14-year-old boy who had been in a  medically induced coma due to head injuries following a fight has had a successful surgery.

Nevisian Neurosurgeon Dr. Geoffrey Liburd operated on the teenager on Tuesday afternoon just one after arriving in Antigua from Jamaica.

The Yale-Trained Dr. Liburd said the surgery went smoothly and the prognosis is very good for the teen.

Dr. Liburd said that he anticipates that Devonte James would be released from the hospital in a day or two, to recover at home over the next few weeks.

Nevisian born and bred Dr. Liburd is an experienced consultant neurosurgeon working out of Kingston, Jamaica. He also serves as an associate lecturer at the University of the West Indies.
