POLICE ARE INVESTIGATING, BUT WILL THEY FIND THE CULPRITS?

It is a continuing trend in the State of St.Vincent and the Grenadines that people entrusted with Government property to miss use it and even take for personal use.

The disturbing news out of Georgetown Medical Complex which is expected to open it’s doors to the public and the region is appalling. The news printed on social media is not good and does not speak well for the government employees.

I am calling on the Minister of Health, the Police Commissioner, the Attorney General, Minister of Finance and the Auditor General to look into this matter and treat it with utmost urgency. While the Government is working hard to lift the standards of healthcare in the State, it appears that some criminal elements are poised to undermine all efforts and halt every program put in place for the citizens.

This seems to be the last straw and something must be done immediately and those responsible must face the stage and dance to the music. People from other countries and in the diaspora that work very hard to make contributions to the development of the State of St. Vincent and the Grenadines are not feeling the actions of the few thieves. Every employee must be held accountable for the items and the “crooks” are found, prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law and send a message to the other “will be thieves”.

It is time to drain the proverbial swamp and or stop the bleeding of the government supplies. The authorities must put “checks and balances” in place and proper auditing of supplies, particularly within the Healthcare industry. This is long overdue and I can give some suggestions where to start and contain this epidemic.

Manage care is need now that we have an International Airport. I say that in the event of a serious emergency where there can be multiple casualties, you cannot afford to run out of supplies. Every health centre in the vicinity of the Airport and the Hospitals must have adequate supplies to take care of every injured person until emergency supplies are airlifted to the country. Just saying……….
