Message to the Children and Youth of St. Vincent and the Grenadines
Your favour of yesterday celebrating the Country’s 38th year of Independence, I send you this message as a citizen of the country we love dearly.
My advice to Sunday Schools, no matter what their denomination, is: Hold fast to the Bible as the sheet-anchor of your liberties; write its precepts in your heart, and PRACTICE THEM IN YOUR LIVES.
I do not know what the impact of Sunday School is now but I can only reflect on my days and to encourage each of you to take this solemn charge seriously. There is where you can make a big difference in your life and that of another. Sunday School is just an hour and an extension of your home discipline. There you will learn some of the basics and fundamental truth that guide your parents and will eventually steer you to be the man and woman of tomorrow.
To the influence of this Book we are indebted for all the progress made in true civilization, and to this, we must look at our guide in the future.
‘Righteousness exalteth a nation, but sin is a reproach to any people.’
Sir Godfrey Gregg
