Here are some ways to identify a child who may be bullying others:
• Frequently teases, mocks, or belittles others
• Uses physical force or intimidation to get what they want
• Excludes others from games or activities
• Needs to dominate or control others
• Has difficulty empathizing with others’ feelings
• Blames others for their own mistakes
• Has a history of aggressive behaviour
• Has a lack of remorse or guilt when harming others
Keep in mind that these behaviours alone don’t necessarily mean a child is bullying others. It’s essential to observe patterns of behaviour over time and look for consistent signs. Additionally, it’s crucial to address bullying behaviour and teach empathy, kindness, and respect for others. If you suspect a child is bullying, talk to them, and involve parents, teachers, or counsellors to support positive change.
