CIRCUS IN TOWN

Where there is a will there is a way.

Gregg family wherever you are this morning greetings for another day. As Carnival wraps up in St. Vincent and the Grenadines, there is another circus in the capital.

July 12, 2017, saw three foreign attorneys admitted to the bar to represent the Government of St. Vincent and the Grenadines and the Supervisor of Elections in the elections petitions of 2015 where the ULP claims a 4th consecutive win over the opposition NDP. However, two candidates are not taking the win as a victory and are challenging the results in those constituencies in the Court of Law.

In a broken country and a broken system, the circus begins before the Supreme Court No. 1 where Justice Esco is presiding. This case will bring out lots of dirt in the political system that needs a thorough overhaul to meet modern day trends and to move away from paper ballots to modern technology, where voting is done electronically and minute by minute results.

If the ruling favours the petitioners there will be fresh elections, on the contrary, the Government will continue its term in office. And St. Vincent and the Grenadines will become the “laughing stock” of the world.  However, I have faith in our Justice system and the law will prevail. If both sides approach the Court with clean hands, no one will fear the outcome.

Waiting for the outcome and the cost on both sides.
