Today, 44 years ago, Maurice Bishop and other leaders of the New Jewel Movement were badly beaten in St. Andrew’s.
Maurice was singled out for special treatment by the forces of Gairysim! He was beaten until his jaw was broken. He was then later detained at the Grenville Police Station without medical attention before he was hospitalized. Then flown to Barbados to have a massive operation on his jaw. According to the history, the doctors had to use wire to pulled his jaw together.
