Sir Godfrey Gregg
National Nurses Week in St. Vincent and the Grenadines is a time for everyone –Politicians, individuals, employers, other health care professionals, community leaders, and nurses – to recognize the vast contributions and positive impact of St. Vincent and the Grenadines Association of nurses. Each year, the celebration ends on May 12, Florence Nightingale’s birthday.
I hope that every Vincentian at home and abroad will appreciate the services of the nurses that take care of our patients. We may not appreciate the individuals but we should appreciate the services that we cannot provide. I work in the healthcare industry and I know first hand the difficulties encountered by family and visitors. So I am appealing to my fellow citizens to treat our nurses with kindness, respect for such a wonderful service they provide for our loved ones.
While St. Vincent and the Grenadines continue to train nurses to meet the needs of the country. Nurses are also trained to meet the needs of other countries. So since other countries appreciate the need to hire our nurses, let us do our part to treat with kindness those that serve us and provide the necessary care for our patients.
